We had fun at the Race Against Racism in Lancaster, today. Here are some videos that aren't really all that significant. But they are about the day.
Here are the results.
The guy who came in 18th, Andrew Howe, is an employee from Isaac's. He was second in his age group and was awarded a hat! I came in 235th. Sharon was 989th! It's odd that they give the finishing time and not the chip time, which would be faster.

Voting day 4/22/2008
Here is some history being made! Three Democratic poll workers in the Millcreek precinct! (Mary, Curtis, Me)
Here are some unnofficial numbers:
Clinton - 83
Obama - 80
And here is some more history!
Overall Republicans - 141
Overall Democrats - 163
I saw this sign in the Hempfield School District Administration building. I don't think I'll be applying.

Merle Jacobs
One of my Dad's brothers, my Uncle Merle, died last week. He was an exceptional guy, and he had a theory that seemed to add an aspect of Lamarkian acceleration to Darwin's biological evolution. I think about his theory every day.
See my Dad's blog for more on the funeral weekend.

101 Reasons for Single Payer Universal Health Care
I was happy to get an "In My Opinion" piece in the Sunday paper today ("From one exec to all others: It's time for universal healthcare"), but I must say that I thought much higher of this article when I wrote it a month ago. Reading it this morning in the paper, it seems like a rambling mess.
Oh well. At least I did my best to add my voice.
Health care also came up in an article run by the Harrisburg Patriot news today. I got my quote in on Page 2! But I especially like the final quote by Willian Stout, CEO of Gannett Fleming: "Health care. There's no denying it's a problem for most of our citizens, employed or not, in both access and affordability."

Single Payer Universal Health Care
I'm still big on changing health care funding in the USA. Here is a good article that explains the Single Payer Universal idea. We need to do it.

Jacobs Sunday, April 2008
We were a small group today. Only Glenn, Jane and Marie; Grandpa and Grandma (Mom & Dad); Paul, Tami, Evan and Elizabeth; Me and Annisa. We talked about Mike Landis' art show, and played soccer and scum. We ate chicken rice casserole, peanut butter eggs and flavored gourmet jelly beans.

Road of Squirrel Death
This area of Nolt Road has a prolific squirrel population. Every jog I see a new dead squirrel here on the road. Sometimes there are several. But they just keep coming, and getting squished!
This one wasn't quite dead yet. Unfortunately, my effort to put him out of his misery with my puny twig just seemed to revive him. He struggled free and limped into the bushes.
Whoops! There he goes! I'm half way afraid of squirrels because they can bite your finger off with those teeth made for opening nuts.

Mmmmm!
Here is Sasha making some sort of Baconator sandwich for her lunch. All that bacon went on the sandwich.
