Sept 30

Whew! I'm almost over this picture a day commitment. I think we all need a break!
Coming home these days it's getting darker earlier. I dislike driving to work in the dark and arriving home in the dark.

Sasha and Jenna at work tonight.

Did everybody stop by Dad's blog and make "Yummy Apples" your desktop background for a couple of weeks? It's fall, you gotta do it!

Sept 26

Jody and I did a bunch of running today. First a 5 k in Millersville (Jody 21 minutes, me 23:30), then I did 10 more and Jody did 17. We found Siegrist Road, over behind Farmdale School. What a nice little road, including a covered bridge!

I saw this road kill on Marietta Pike between Chestnut Hill and Silver Springs. I think it's a mink, but what would a mink be doing there? Does anyone have any thoughts? Is it actually some type of weasel or marten?

Sept 25

It's Friday night, so I was at a football game. Sadly, by myself. But it was 3-0 Manhiem Central at home against 3-0 Cocalico Eagles. It was a battle, and ended with the Barons kicking a field goal with 1.5 seconds left. 17-14.

Sept 24

I got home early tonight and went for a jog. I saw this house on Silver Spring Road with a volunteer corn plant in its' front rain gutter! I would blame a squirrel. Any other guesses?

Sept 23

I saw this wooden Flamingo head in the office of one of our restaurants in Harrisburg today. Is it a letter holder?

We had some POS (Point of Sale computer system) folks working with one of our employees to think through a new POS design. Changing Isaac's POS system would be more than $250,000!

Annisa and I went to the Lampeter Fair.

Annisa texted on my phone all night.

And the answer to the mystery: the wooded flamingo head is used to hold reading glasses!

Sept 22

Whoops! Another day with no photos. But Annisa's school photos came in today, so I took a photo of that photo.

I almost didn't get a photo in tonight, but luckily Annisa complied while she was waiting for supper. Open faced sandwiches with bacon, tomato and cheddar cheese - under the broiler.

Sept 20

Jody and I ran an easy 10 miler this morning. We've discovered a stretch of Pinkerton Road near Mount Joy that goes along creek, and it was especially pleasant this morning.

Saturday is chore day at our house. Here is Cinderella Sasha cleaning the steps. She did a great job!

Not my official photo

This isn't my official daily photo. It's just here to compare to this one.

Sept 18

Jody and I went to watch Lancaster Catholic play Manheim Central tonight. LCHS's star quarterback was out with a sprained ankle, and they were clobbered 42-13. No Kyle Smith means no victory.

Nearby to my seat were the coaches for Cocalico (blue and white caps) who take on Manhiem Central next week. They looked like a bunch of farm boys with some really good ideas. Friday nights are fun!

Sept 17

Here are the parents all lined up outside of CVS in the 9:05pm ritual, waiting for their kids to get off work. Sasha's been getting a lot of hours, which would be a good thing, except she's in college. We'll see if she chooses to keep up this frenzied pace as the year progresses.

Yes, it is a photo of CVS - I'm sure Paul and Dad can attest to the difficulty of trying to upload a new photo each day!

Sept 16

This hardly counts. Today I didn't take any photos at all. But I did receive this photo of myself that was taken yesterday for the Lancaster Hempfield Rotary Club.

Sept 15

Today was the kick-off meeting for Isaac's Dream Team! These are employee volunteers from each of our restaurants, who go back in and encourage their coworkers to contribute to the United Way through automatic payroll deductions. It's sort of like modern day tithing.
Isaac's employees are extremely generous and caring. Each year we have tons of stores with 100% employee participation in United Way giving.
This Dream Team makes the dreams of others less fortunate, come true!

Sharon

Last week, Sharon was honored by Widener Law School at an event celebrating the debut of Justice Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Sept 13

Jody and I ran in the Harrisburg Half on Sunday. It was a nice course, including a run through the Greenbelt trail. I finished in just under 2 hours, and Jody was 10 minutes ahead of me. We were pleasantly surprised with our times!

Sept 12

Today was the Lancaster "Day of Caring". Isaac's folks weeded and mulched Northweast Corridor park in the city. It was fun, but COLD!
