Healthcare Video

I'm really losing my spirit over the whole health care sickness in this country. I don't know why we cling to this employer-based for-profit insurance nightmare. Actually, I do know why. Too many people have their fingers in the healthcare money pot, and they loath the idea of giving it up. They have the power and control to keep the status quo.

Oh well. At least we can sing our folk songs!

Lancaster County Photos

For those of you who don't regularly read my nephew Zel's blog, you really should click on over and see his photos he recently took around Lancaster. Here's the link.
They are awesome.

And my Dad has three types of water lilies in his pond. See them here in HIS blog.
They are also awesome!

Comings and Goings

On Saturday Mandy left for London and Rhoda moved from Mountville to Yellow House. We had a moving caravan of two pick-ups, two vans, one station wagon, and one sedan. We were quite a sight rolling up 222! All stuffed to the gills with Rhoda's belongings!

Mark had his First Calf!

Well... Bossie or Fanny had her first calf. Anyway, Mark was a happy Mid-Husband. The calf is appropriately named "Solstice." His farm website is here.

Wheat Photos

Here are some pictures of wheat fields. I show these in an attempt to encourage Zel to upload those very cool and much better photos that he took while HE was running.

More Running Photos

Sometimes the critter I meet on the road aren't quite dead, yet. I came across this old ground hog over on Meadow Springs Road. He was missing an eye, and kept shuffling around in circles so he could see me out of his good eye. I'm amazed by how many of the animals I find dead on the road show signs of previous injuries, like missing digits and limbs, and big huge scars. These creature live in a natural world that is "red in tooth and claw," like Darwin said.

Here's an old Trans Am over at the Silver Spring scrap metal yard. That ivy on the fence is poison.

Ugali

Here is the ugali making process on Fathers' Day, 2008.

Rabbit

We had a rabbit attempt to dig a hole and make a nest right in the middle of our front yard. We shushed her away.

Boston

In Boston we stayed with Shakti and Andrew in their Carriage House in Wellesley. Andrew had a bike accident on the way home from work. Von made sure we drove through the Big Dig.

Slide show here, the direct link to the Picasa album is below.

Better safe than sorry

Jacobs blogger/blogspot users: This weekend in Boston, Von, Sharon and I were talking about all the personal information that is building up on our blogs, and it occurred to us that it might add an element of safety if we block our blogs from search engines. That way, people searching our home addresses or the names of our kids, etc., will have one additional layer of difficulty to find us.

But our blogs will still be available and shareable, without the need to grant access on a person by person basis.

If you choose to do this, here's how:

Open your blog for editing, then go to Settings -> Basic, and answer "No" to the questions "Add your blog to our listings?" and "Let search engines find your blog?"

I went ahead and did this for my blog. As much as I get a kick out of people finding my blog, I think this is a worthwhile layer of privacy.

Bunch of Spring Photos

Sasha got braces and a retainer.

I went jogging and saw wheat.

And more wheat.

The pool in Carol's glasses.

Feet around the pool.

I ran 101 miles in May 2008. Yay!

Sharon promised to destroy this photo of night time swimming. We'll see if she reads my blog!

We had Robins on the patio.
