Stella

Winter storm Stella is supposed to end Tuesday evening, and we need to be at our departure point at 4:30 am Wednesday. Exciting!

Two days to go

As we get down to the wire, it looks like we'll get a foot of snow the day before we leave.

And in typical Rotary fashion, we receive emails like this, with information we need to deal with immediately:

Lisa's last name is spelled wrong on the plane tickets. Could be a big deal.

And while re-reading this post, I see my name is wrong, as well! Oh, brother.

My big fears with this trip t Uganda are twofold:

1. I might be doing crowd control in the lines for optical, where people come to get glasses. I have been told that little kids come because their parents send them, with instructions to return with something they can sell. Evidently these titchies are resourceful, and circle around and try to return again, answering the questions correctly the second time, and get glasses to take home. I worry that I'll need to turn them away. If they don't get anything, their parents will be angry.

2. Returning from Colombia I got claustrophobia during dis-embarking. It was a real panicky feeling where I wanted to leap on top of the people waiting to get out, and swim my way to the door.  I worry about that.

Suddenly with 10 days to go, the Powers-what-be of our mission discovered we need to apply for Visas on line.

Despite the description on the web site, getting the Visa is quite difficult. We had to scan and resize our documents, then get denied and send additional documentation.

Camera Cleanup Night

I downloaded photos from my Olympus Tough tonight. Anything to keep from having to paint the laundry room works for me.

I am trying settings so I know how to take photos in Uganda.

"Auto" seems the easiest.
